Free testing happening tonight until 7 p.m.

BECKLEY, WV (WOAY) – Raleigh County Health Department offers free COVID-19 testing at its location on Harper Road today.

The event started at 1 p.m. and continues until 7 p.m. Testing is free and you don’t need proof of insurance unless you plan on getting a flu shot. Although Raleigh County numbers have decreased, administrator Candace Hurd says it will take a community effort to continue that trend.

“We are encouraging everyone to come out whether you have symptoms or not,” said Hurd, the director of nursing. “We need to keep our gatherings very small intimate and those sort of things to keep us all safe.”

Since numbers have been down, Hurd says the number of those getting tested has also decreased, but it’s likely there will be a rise as we near the holiday season.
