Lewisburg, WV (WOAY) – A former athlete from Brazil has been arrested on felony charges in Greenbrier County.
According to court records 43-year-old Marcelo Silveira Saragosa was arrested and went before Greenbrier County magistrate on June 20, 2025.
Marcelo Silveira Saragosa is charged with one count of sexual abuse first degree, forcible compulsion, and one count of abduction of person for illicit purpose.
Not many details about the care are being released at this time.
According to various internet publications Saragosa played professional soccer in Brazil and the United States from 2003 through 2019.
Saragosa is currently in the Southern Regional Jail on a $50,000 surety/cash bond on one of the charges and no bond on the other.
