Oak Hill, WV (WOAY) On Sunday night, western Greenbrier County experienced multiple road closures and power outages due to flash flooding from heavy rainfall.
According to Greenbrier County dispatch, responders from multiple fire departments, including Rainelle, Rupert, Smoot, and Quinwood, were all out on flood-related calls.
Downed trees and power lines were the main issues, with many roads also closed due to high water and debris, including Craig Road, Farmdale Road, and Simms Mountain Cutoff. Route 20 near Spring Dale was washed out.
The Rainelle Fire Department building on James River and Kanawha Turnpike also took on water. The department released a statement urging everyone to avoid driving through any high-water areas.
There were also high water impacts in eastern Fayette County, as well as parts of Raleigh County.
