Fincastle Golf Course concludes Appalachian Amateur Golf Tournament

BLUEFIELD, VA (WOAY) – The Fincastle Golf Course finished up their amateur tournament this weekend.

The tournament used to be a yearly occasion for nearly forty years, but it was put on hiatus a few years ago.

To help revitalize the golfing tournament, local golfer Ben Ramsey decided to help reorganize it into the Appalachian Amateur and host it at the Fincastle Country Club.

“It’s really cool; I’m fortunate to be friends with a lot of them. And it’s really cool to see a lot of really good players turn out for something like this, especially for our first year. We were a little timid with what our turnout might be, but we got really really fortunate; we got a really good pool of players.”

The tournament concluded this weekend with dozens of golfers turning out to participate and more events are planned at the country club for the future.
