Fayette County, WV (WOAY) – The Federal Emergency Management Agency has awarded an $800,000 grant to the Oak Hill Fire Department.
The grant will be used to recruit and retain its volunteer firefighters.
The money will fund a recruitment campaign, incentive and support programs, a dedicated volunteer coordinator, training and leadership development, and more.
In a statement, Oak Hill City Manager Cris Meadows said, “This is a game-changing investment in public safety for Oak Hill. Our volunteer firefighters give their time, their skills, and sometimes their lives to protect this community. This FEMA funding allows us to support them better, strengthen our response, and keep our residents and businesses safer.”
