FEMA accepting appeals to flood insurance maps

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) provided over $4 billion to Region 3 states and the District of Columbia for costs related to saving lives and protecting communities from COVID-19.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency is proposing updates to the Flood Insurance Rate Map in Summers County… and they want the public’s input.

The 90-day appeal period is scheduled to start on Sept. 27. Appeals that are submitted must contain technical information and data to support the claim.

Incorrect information, like missing or misspelled road names, can be corrected by property owners by simply making a written comment.

To view the maps, go to http://msc.fema.gov/fmcv. Comments and appeals can be submitted by emailing summersflood@yahoo.com.
