Feds to rebuild 1350 feet of road in Nicholas County, mitigating flood risk

Over 1000 feet of roadway in Nicholas County will be rebuilt with federal dollars.

Today, Senator Joe Manchin announced that the US Department of Transportation is providing just over three million dollars to rebuild 1,350 feet of State Route 39 to prevent the nearby Cherry River from flooding it.

The project will raise the road by seven feet.

“Our transportation system is the foundation for economic growth in our state, and that’s why improving and modernizing our roads, bridges and highways continues to be one of my top priorities,” Manchin said.
