SUMMERSVILLE, WV (WOAY) Federal funds from the Department of Labor totaling $750,000 will expand greenhouse production and landscaping workforce training in Summersville.
The produce from these greenhouses will be used at Fruits of Labor locations to incorporate fresh West Virginia produce into the organization’s addiction prevention work.
Greenhouse production will now run year-round. The funds were awarded to the West Virginia Region 4 Planning and Development Council. It serves Fayette, Greenbrier, Nicholas, Pocahontas, and Webster Counties to plan economic growth and improve infrastructure.
These funds were secured by Senator Shelley Moore Capito, specifically.
“After talking with folks back home to learn about these projects, I am proud to deliver resources to West Virginia that will help young people, as well as those at risk of addiction or in recovery, find pathways to meaningful employment while supporting local businesses,” Capito said.
