FDA warns patients about counterfeit Ozempic

West Virginia (CNN)- The Federal Drug Administration (FDA) warns patients about fake Ozempic, saying it could pose a safety risk.

The FDA and Ozempic drugmaker Novo Nordisk have found counterfeit vials of the weight-loss drug being sold to consumers.

The labels on the counterfeit products have a real lot number P-A-R-0-3-6-2, but they also have a fake serial number.

The fake serial number begins with the first eight digits 5-1-7-4-6-5-1-7.

If the real lot number is coupled with the fake serial number, the product is counterfeit and should not be used.

To be sure you’re getting the real thing, you should only buy Ozempic injections from authorized Novo Nordisk distributors.
