FDA expands recall of Great Value Shrimp due to potential radioactive contamination

CNN – We’re learning about an expansion of that government recall of some shrimp products sold at Walmart stores in more than a dozen states.

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced that Beaver Street Fisheries of Jacksonville, Florida, is voluntarily recalling a limited quantity of Great Value frozen raw shrimp.

That’s a concern that the product may be contaminated with a radioactive isotope.

Earlier this week, the FDA issued a recall of other Great Value frozen shrimp that was imported.

Just days ago, another company, Southwind Foods, based in California, also recalled some of its frozen shrimp due to potential contamination.

The FDA says so far, it has received no reports of anyone getting sick.

If consumers have the recalled products, the agency recommends that they be thrown out or returned to a store for a full refund.
