Fayette Fair Share PAC renames weekend event scheduled in Fayetteville

Fayetteville, WV (WOAY) – Fayette Fair Share has changed the name of an event scheduled for this weekend.

The political action committee (PAC) operating out of Fayette County plans to hold a legal and peaceful No Kings Day event on October 18, 2025, between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. in a designated area away from Bridge Day activities, at the northeast corner of U.S. Route 19 and S.R. 16 (Court Street) in Fayetteville, WV.  The group previously held a similar event in Fayetteville in June.

According to a media release from event Fayette Fair Share, the gathering was originally called “No Kings Day at NRG Bridge Day”. The Fayette County Chamber of Commerce notified PAC that “Bridge Day” is a registered trademark, that it cannot be used in the title of the event, that it should be removed from any publicity for the event, and that the public should be advised that No Kings Day is not part of the official Bridge Day event.

Fayette Fair Share wants to inform the public that the event title has been changed on the national No Kings site. FFS has also changed the name of the event to “No Kings Day in Fayetteville on October 18.”

Linda Stein, chairperson of FFS, made the following statement. “We apologize for our mistake in naming this event. We were unaware that “Bridge Day” is a registered trademark.

“We will be a peaceful, legal, and quiet presence on October 18 to stand up for democracy, the rule of law, and defense of the United States Constitution. We want visitors to our town to see that, here too, many people are concerned about how these precious values are under attack. Now is a time to remember that freedom is not free. Our message is simple: ‘No Kings in America’.”

Ms. Stein pointed out the following language attached to all events of No Kings Day nationwide:

“A core principle behind all No Kings events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values and to act lawfully at these events. Weapons of any kind, including those legally permitted, should not be brought to events”
