Fayette County, WV (WOAY) – The National Weather Service has confirmed that an EF-1 Tornado touched down at 4:03 PM between US 19 and Whispering Pines Lane in the Pine Grove community. This tornado skipped along a damage path that was 5 miles long and 250 yards wide. The tornado ended near the intersection of Mountain Vista Drive and US 60 in the Lookout community. Most of the damage was limited to trees, although some very minor structural damage also occurred.
This is the fifth tornado in Fayette County since 1961 and the first in West Virginia since 2024.
Speaking of Fayette County, this tornado crossed US 60 just 1.9 miles south of where the EF2 tornado that hit Hico crossed, just 2 years ago.
