WOAY – With the introduction of a gold zone to the statewide color-coded map, that’s brought an opportunity for high school sports teams in Fayette County to begin their 2020 fall seasons.
All three football teams – Meadow Bridge, Midland Trail, and Oak Hill – had their first two games suspended while the county was in the orange zone. WOAY Sports confirmed that Midland Trail will travel to Meadow Bridge on Friday night, while Oak Hill visits Chapmanville Saturday, pending any status changes for Fayette or Logan counties.
In addition, Oak Hill volleyball will host Meadow Bridge on Thursday, while the Red Devils face Midland Trail in a boys/girls soccer doubleheader that same evening.
While Monroe County stays in orange, James Monroe teams will now be able to hold conditioning drills similar to Phase One in the summer training sessions. All other area counties remain in the green and yellow zones, and can hold regular season competitions with limited attendance.
