Powellton, WV (WOAY) – The Fayette County Sheriff’s Department is actively investigating a fatal incident.
According to authorities, early on Sunday, June 28, deputies responded to a call on Armstrong Creek Road reporting a man on fire who was possibly electrocuted.
Upon arrival, deputies discovered a man deceased in the roadway, who visibly suffered significant traumatic burn injuries.
Authorities believe that a vehicle found on the scene overturned in a nearby creek may be connected to the incident.
Witness statements indicate that the victim exited the creek following a car crash, came into contact with a downed utility line, and collapsed.
The victim’s name has not been released at this time.
