Fayette County Sheriff previews holiday weekend

FAYETTEVILLE, WV (WOAY) – During the fourth of July weekend, people are traveling throughout the state.

Despite several planned events being canceled due to COVID-19, it’s important to take precautions within your home.

“Make sure that you notify your neighbors that you trust with stuff,” said Fayette County Sheriff Mike Fridley. “One, either have them get your mail for you on that Saturday or if you’re going to be gone for a week or whatever it might be get your mail. Or go notify the local post office, so you aren’t building up your mail or newspapers or stuff like that. Try to leave a light on in your residence, if it’s on a timer or something you can do that.”

It’s also important to continue making smart sanitary decisions throughout the weekend.
