Fayette County school official addresses concern surround disinfectant used in buildings

FAYETTE COUNTY, WV (WOAY) – Fayette County Schools wanted to address some confusion surrounding the type of disinfectant they are using to clean the schools.

The brand is called Pro-Techs which has the name as a pesticide company as well.

Director of Operations Tim Payton assured concerned parents saying they are two different products from two different companies and what the schools are using is a disinfectant that they have tested all summer.

“Most anti-microbials are categorized in the same category as pesticides. I know there’s been some discussion about that. This is not a pesticide,” he said. “Actually if you Google it depending on how you Google it, how you spell it, you come up with a pesticide company, you come up with a data sheet on a pesticide. That is not this product.”
