Fayette County, WV (WOAY) – A Fayette County man has set a state record for a fish he caught at Kanawha Falls on May 7.

You’re looking at a picture of Zak Roper and the brand new state record redhorse sucker.
The fish weighed roughly six and a half pounds, nearly a pound heavier than the previous state record.
The fish was caught on corn using a fifteen-pound test line.
The division of natural resources says anyone who thinks they caught a record fish should keep the fish alive in a livewell, chilled on ice, or wrapped and frozen.
The local DNR office can verify the catch.
