Fayette County Humane Society operating under “Code Red” conditions

Fayetteville, WV (WOAY) – The Fayette County Humane Society is operating under “Code Red” conditions.

What that means is that the shelter has so many animals that they are over capacity.

According to a Facebook post from the Fayette County Humane Society, every kennel is full, forcing shelter staff to house many of our dogs in spaces meant for just one.

In an effort to alleviate the overcrowded conditions, the Fayette County Humane Society has extended the dates for their Free Dog & Puppy Adoption Event for one more week.

The extended dates for the free pet adoption event will take place May 27th – May 31, 2025. The event is for the adoption of dogs and puppies only – cats are not included.

The shelter is located at 513 Shelter Road, Fayetteville, WV 25840 and open Tuesday through Saturday 10 am to 5 pm.

Please contact the Fayette County Humane Society at 304-574-2722 for more details.
