Fayette County football teams ready to play

FAYETTE COUNTY, WV (WOAY) – As of Wednesday, Fayette County’s three high school football teams are making final preparations ahead of their 2020 season openers this week.

Midland Trail will visit Meadow Bridge at 7:30 Friday evening, while Oak Hill makes the trip to Chapmanville for a kickoff at 8:00 PM. The Red Devils-Tigers matchup was originally going to be Saturday, but was moved to Friday night.

Oak Hill head coach David Moneypenny and Midland Trail Frank Isaacs discussed the difficulties of staying positive the past two weeks, when Fayette County teams were unable to play while other area teams opened their seasons.

Schools are also making contingency plans for potential Monday games in 2020 as well, pending the county status on the Department of Education’s color-coded map.
