Fayette County Circuit Court Judge Paul M. Blake, Jr. has announced that he will retire at the end of his term.
Blake was appointed to the court by then-Governor Joe Manchin in 2005. He was elected for the first time in 2006 and re-elected in 2008 and 2016.
“After nearly 50 years in the legal community, I feel now is the time to enter retirement to enjoy the remainder of my time on earth, doing what I want, and when I want to do it,” Blake said.
Before joining the court, he served in the United States Army, was a member of the West Virginia House of Delegates, and served as the Fayette County Prosecuting Attorney on two separate occasions.
He will still be involved as a Senior Status Circuit Judge, serving when directed by the West Virginia Supreme Court of Appeals.
