Fayette County Chamber of Commerce throwing pancake party

The Fayette County Chamber of Commerce is kicking off its first-ever pancake breakfast on Valentine’s Day so the community can meet and mingle and get to know their neighbors.

It’s 7:30 am to 10 am at the Lewis House in Oak Hill.

“Pancake breakfast is sponsored by Escape-A-Torium, the escape room that is in Fayetteville and Hilltop Coffee is providing coffee for the event,” said FCCOC, New River Gorge CVB, Bridge Day Executive Assistant Tim Naylor. “And then we’ll have flowers from Good Sun Florals available for purchase to take with you so you can have your own little bouquet.”

It’s open to the public — $10 for chamber members and $15 for non-members.

“Anybody can come,” Naylor said. “I know we have at least one person who’s running for office who will be there, and then just other chamber members, and just anybody who really wants to show up and get some pancakes and maybe have a few minutes to talk to people.”

The pancake breakfast is the first of its kind in Oak Hill. The chamber is always looking to do new events and engage the community.

“A lot of people do business after hours, so we just thought a Breakfast Before Hours would be something different and maybe an attractive draw to some people,” said the FCCOC Executive Assistant.

They spend all year working up to Bridge Day, that momentous converging of base jumpers on the New River Gorge. Then the chamber has a bit of a breather, and now they’re working on some other smaller activities.

“We’re excited to see the turnout. You never know how these kinds of things are gonna go but we’re hoping we get a good crowd to come out and really enjoy the pancakes,” Naylor said. “That’ll kind of encourage us to continue doing different events in the future.”
