FAYETTEVILLE, WV (WOAY) – Thousands flock to Bridge Day year after year, from here in the Mountain State and afar.
It’s one of those events that attracts enthusiasts and fans alike.
The level of activity at the Fayette County 911 Center can vary significantly on any given day.
“There are so many more people here, and the foot traffic, I mean, a lot of things can happen, said Director Tonja McMullen. “For the most part, on Bridge Day, as far as emergencies, it’s usually medical.”
According to McMullen, she has been here for almost 25 years.
“We’ll have wrecks because of the traffic,” the 911 director said. “It may just be one of those days. It can be a slow day; people ask us that question all the time, too — are holidays or weekends busier? You never know.”
