Logan County, WV (WOAY) – One person is dead after a house fire in Logan County.
According to a media release from the office of the West Virginia State Fire Marshal, the fire happened around 8:00 am at a home on Chipmunk Trail in the Peach Creek area of Logan County.
When fire crews arrived on scene, they began a search for a resident, who they were unable to locate.
Investigators from the State Fire Marshals’ office were called to the scene, where crews discovered the body of a 59-year-old female victim.
Due to the severity of the fire, the cause has been ruled as undetermined by investigators.
The victim’s remains were sent to the West Virginia Medical Examiner’s Office for positive identification and an autopsy.
