WOAY-TV (Oak Hill, WV): Foggy conditions and cool temperatures will stick around for a few hours this morning, so a light jacket may be justified this morning. Fog will dissipate around 10 AM this morning, fully revealing the mostly sunny skies that will stick around all day long. Temperatures will warm up, eventually reaching the lower 80s this afternoon. While the light jacket is useful this morning, you will want the ability to shed that layer this afternoon and evening.
It will be a wonderful day to get outside and enjoy! Make sure you have water, sun protection, and take breaks when you can. It will be very comfortable due to lower humidity, but preparations should be made even without the early July heat. Conditions remain wonderful this evening before temperatures slide into the lower 60s overnight and early tomorrow morning. These values are average for this time of the year, which will get us out of the slightly cooler morning temperatures.
Tomorrow morning will be uneventful, but cloud cover will increase throughout the day. Showers and a couple of thunderstorms will start developing ahead of the low-pressure system during the evening hours, kicking off the extended rainy pattern within our region. Rainfall will remain scattered tomorrow evening and overnight, but an umbrella or rain jacket is not a bad thing to have if you have plans during that period. The system will approach and begin its pass on Sunday.
Storms become widespread during the morning and will remain that way through the rest of the day. While the early arrival of storms and cloud cover should limit severe weather threats, there are parameters pointing towards an isolated severe storm threat. If any storm ends up strong or severe, the main concerns would be damaging winds and heavy rain. These will not be as intense as previous severe weather events, but the risk is there to end off the weekend. We will be keeping an eye on these storms as they develop through the day. Storms will begin to weaken in the evening and overnight hours, ending our severe weather threat.
Next week will not bring much relief from the rain. Showers and storms will continue to linger around even after the system fully passes our region. While lingering activity should stay weaker, you will want to plan for extended rainfall. Umbrellas and rain jackets will be needed through the majority of the week, especially Monday and Tuesday.
