Family asks community for help with home renovations for ill father

OAK HILL, WV (WOAY) – A Fayette County resident is asking the community for help to complete home renovations for his father who is currently hospitalized.

Oak Hill native, Justin Canada needs help with renovations his father started. Justin’s father Tony Canada, a well-known member of the community purchased a home two months ago and was unable to complete the project after suffering multiple heart attacks.

“So many people know and love him. If you talk to him you’ll fall in love with him, he’s just a sweet guy. He’ll give you the shirt off his back in a heartbeat. So this time, we’re trying to give an opportunity for the people who can help,” said Canada.

The house is currently being renovated by family and community members. The gutted house needs kitchen and bathroom appliances. But, more importantly, the house needs a heating unit and a new roof. Justin says the family wants to welcome his father into his new house before winter.

“If he wasn’t in the hospital sick, he would be out here right now, doing something and hammering on something. He’s a worker,” said Canada.

Tony is known for providing medical services at the Scarbo Clinic through the Black Lung Program. He has spent years assisting others and now his family is asking the community for help in completing the project.

“We have a limited number of people that are working and trying to get things accomplished. Anything that you can donate or do to help would be awesome. We just wanted to see if anyone would help us and give back to the old man,” said Canada.
