RALEIGH COUNTY, WV (WOAY) – YMCA of Southern West Virginia is kicking off its Spring Break Sampler Camps on March 31 and April 1 — getting kids psyched for a little b-ball!
Community standouts/coaches Damien Tunstalle and Cam Shannon will show you what it takes to have a champion’s mentality in basketball.
They’re teaching the kids fundamentals of the sport, but also how to strive to be the best on and off the court.
That is, to have the right mentality when it comes to winning, losing and playing against your friends or opponents.
“The sampler shows them what it’s like. And then in July, we have a full week-long camp they can attend that really dives into being the best,” said Chief Operating Officer Matt Bishop.
He calls it a good reprieve from school responsibilities.
“Gets them out and back with their friends or people who have like interests,” Bishop said. “It (allows) them to enjoy time together during Spring Break instead of being at home all week.”
