Lewisburg, WV (WOAY) Lewisburg’s 2026 Shanghai Parade kicks off Thursday, January 1, at noon.
The parade will travel west on Washington Street from Lee Street to Church Street, with the judges’ stand set up at City Hall.
Participants should line up starting at 11:00 a.m. on Lee Street, between the United Methodist Church and West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine (WVSOM), not behind the old Lewisburg Elementary School.
Organizers remind drivers that there’s no on-street parking along the parade route that morning.
They further ask that residents along Lee Street keep the street clear.
While there’s no pre-registration, entries must notify lineup officials which category they’re entering.
Awards are available in multiple categories, from floats and music to antique cars, farm equipment, walkers, and equestrian entries, plus several special $100 tradition and spirit awards.
Organizers request that parade participants not throw but hand out candy to parade goers.
They also ask that if any participants have sirens on their vehicles, please do not use them during the event.
The awards ceremony will take place in front of City Hall right after the parade.
