FAYETTE COUNTY, WV (WOAY) – It’s an annual tradition that’s been going on for years.
Many volunteers spent the day helping prep the free Thanksgiving meal at the Lewis Christian Community Center in Oak Hill.
From turkey to stuffing and much more, they all did their part to ensure people would have a happy holiday.
“This year looks very different. There’s a big need in this community. So we’ve been very blessed with the outpour of many people in the community giving their time,” Longtime Volunteer Katherine Dyer said.
According to Dyer, they are trying to box more than 4,000 meals.
“So it’s definitely been crunch time, working very diligently morning and evening,” said the volunteer. “For me to be here again, I think, shows the willingness of our community and the willingness that’s growing within me.”
Loving one another is such a big thing that they foster.
“And just seeing the growth that it’s had, the impact it’s had really bleeds into every volunteer’s lives here,” Dyer said.
