Easter-themed beauty pageant finally happens after months of rescheduling

BECKLEY, WV (WOAY) – An Easter-themed beauty pageant that was originally scheduled months ago has finally gotten underway after multiple reschedulings due to the pandemic.

Four pageants were held at the Dry Hill Community Center, each for different age ranges.

The pageants were organized by a local from the Beckley community, and also was set up by local experienced pageant-goers. They say it was a great opportunity to hold the pageant after so many issues with the pandemic.

“It’s really great getting back to normal, and doing what we love, and helping the little kids. Because it’s really great seeing their smiles and seeing them do what they love to do. And seeing them out on stage just having their smile light up, and they’re just having so much fun, which if you’re stuck home you can’t do that much,” they said.

To keep things safe and crowd size small, only family members of the contestants were allowed to attend the pageant as spectators.
