Dry weather stays with us through Halloween; rain chances come back into the mix Sunday

It’s been a beautiful day across southern West Virginia once again. Not much in the way of active weather or clouds for that matter and temperatures still hovering right around average. We are still expecting a small warm-up heading through Halloween weekend and the rain potential looks to come back mainly after our 7 day forecast. Models are still disagreeing on the timing of this next system that we are watching, but the majority of them are trending more into rain potential very early Monday morning. This is a look at the European model that does highlight some light rain potential in the region Sunday afternoon, but the big blob of rain is still into parts of Kentucky through Alabama at this time.

The rain forecast over the next 7 days keeps the majority of the rain for us across the Greenbrier Valley and into Virginia. However, the European model does show rainfall approaching an inch in some areas as we head through next Monday. So, depending on the timing of this system, the rain through Sunday could be increased.

Here is a look at that full 7 day forecast. Mostly sunny conditions from Monday through Friday. There does appear to be more cloud coverage in the area as we head into Halloween Saturday, but temperatures still look to rise into the upper 60’s and potentially low 70’s Thursday through Saturday. There is a 30% chance of showers on Sunday to account for the current uncertainty regarding the exact timing of this next system for southern West Virginia. The low temperatures also look to go from the upper 30’s tonight, potentially into the low 50’s Saturday night.
