OAK HILL, WV (WOAY) – Strong storms made their way through the area this afternoon and evening. Gusty winds and small hail accompanied the strongest storms, with one of the storms in Greenbrier County featuring large enough hail to prompt the National Weather Service to issue a Severe Thunderstorm Warning. Most of the storms are gone now, and the chances for more severe weather are gone now that the daytime heating is gone. As the night goes on, patchy fog becomes possible, especially in areas that picked up rain today. Lows tonight will be in the upper 50s, a little cooler than it’s been.
Tomorrow, we’ll keep a small chance for showers in the forecast early on, but as the day goes on, skies will clear, and we’ll begin a pleasant stretch of weather. High pressure over the central Great Lakes becomes the dominant feature in our weather. The dry weather stays with us for most of the extended forecast, although there will be a small chance for showers and storms in the southern coalfields on Saturday as a low approaches from the southwest.

It appears for now that the low will pass far enough south to keep most other areas dry. The other system that we’ll be tracking comes through on Monday. It’s won’t have much moisture to work with, but it will drop our temperatures a shade. Highs will be right around the 70-degree mark on Tuesday and Wednesday of next week. There is a small chance that the front will produce some showers, but the chances for that will be small.
