WAYNE COUNTY, WV (WOAY) – A Huntington man has been arrested for the deadly October 3 hit-and-run on the West Virginia Turnpike.
Sixty-year-old Anthony W. Hay is charged with hit and run resulting in death, accused of fatally striking Jack Walter of North Carolina, near the 63-mile marker of 1-77.
According to the West Virginia State Police, an extensive three-week investigation revealed Hay’s suspected tractor-trailer and the man himself.
Walter’s loved ones said he was struck while changing his tire on the side of the road as he headed to an NFL game in Ohio.
The criminal complaint was filed in Fayette County due to the jurisdiction of the mile marker being there.
Hay was taken to Wayne County Magistrate Court for arraignment and is now being held on a $250,000 cash-only bond.
