Charleston, WV (WOAY) – Delegate Doug Skaff is resigning from the House of Delegates after stepping down as the chamber’s Democratic leader last month.
Skaff, who has represented Kanawha County as a Democrat in the House for over a decade, delivered his resignation to the office of Speaker Roger Hanshaw on Friday.
Skaff is president of HD Media, which presides over the Charleston Gazette-Mail and several other state newspapers.
Skaff did not disclose a reason for stepping down from the Legislature in his letter.
The Democratic executive committee in Kanawha County will gather a list of possible candidates for the governor to make the final decision on who will take over the role.
