DOH will spend millions to repair the William C. Brown Bridge

Raleigh County, WV (WOAY) – The West Virginia Division of Highways will spend roughly $13.5 million to make repairs to the William C. Brown Bridge off I-64 near Beckley.

The bridge carries Route 29 over Piney Creek. It is nearly 2,000 feet long and supports roughly 10,000 cars a day.

Catts Construction won the bid for the work, which includes a new concrete deck overlay, replacement of expansion joints, repairs to the north abutment, and a fresh coat of paint.

The Division of Highways says the bridge is a major piece of the state’s bridge inventory and would be expensive to replace if it fully deteriorated, making preventative maintenance important.
