Fayetteville, WV (WOAY) A Detroit man has been sentenced to prison after Fayette County authorities found more than 100 grams of fentanyl during a traffic stop.
Prosecutors say 21-year-old Donovan Phillips received a sentence of three to 15 years after pleading guilty to possession of fentanyl with intent to deliver.’
In June 2025, authorities stopped a vehicle after observing the driver was not wearing a seatbelt.
Phillips was in the passenger’s seat.
Investigators say officers discovered 102 grams of fentanyl in Phillips’ pocket after learning he had an active Michigan arrest warrant during the traffic stop.
Phillips pled guilty to the offense on December 8, 2025.
He was initially committed to the Youthful Offender Treatment Program, but failed to complete that program successfully.
