Derecho, 13 years later

Oak Hill, WV (WOAY) – Sunday marked the 13th anniversary of the devastating West Virginia derecho, a powerful storm that swept through the state on June 29, 2012.

The derecho brought widespread destruction, knocking out power for months in some areas, damaging infrastructure, and leaving communities scrambling for supplies.

The storm tested the resilience of West Virginians, but it also showcased their strength as neighbors and first responders rallied together.
