Deepwater Road closed for construction

FAYETTE COUNTY, WV (WOAY)- West Virginia Division of Highways announces that WV 61, Deepwater Road will be closed to one lane at the intersection of WV 61 and Boonesborough Road, otherwise known as Deepwater Curve.

WVDOH road crews will be working to replace a failed culvert pipe. The roadway will be closed to one lane beginning Tuesday, September 8, 2020 and 8 a.m. Residents using Boonesborough Road and WV 61 are advised to plan their travel accordingly. WVDOH expresses their apologies for the inconvenience this may cause the citizens and guests to the area.

Motorists are asked to observe all traffic control signs and devices and use caution while traveling through the work zone once it is reopened to traffic. Delays are expected; therefore, motorists should allow additional time for their commute or seek alternate routes. Tractor trailer traffic will not be allowed through the job site. All tractor trailer traffic coming southbound will be turned around at the job site. All northbound tractor trailers on WV 61 will be routed to Virginia Street in Oak Hill and back onto US 19.

The anticipated completion date for this project is September 9, 2020. However, inclement weather or unforeseen circumstances could change the project schedule.
