Tazewell County, VA (WOAY) – The Tazewell County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death of a man from an apparent gunshot wound.
According to a media release, on Wednesday June 11, 2025, Tazewell County deputies responded to a call in the Wardell area of Tazewell County to a report of a male with a gunshot. Once deputies arrived the found they located the subject later identified as 43-year-old William Harrison Lester of Amonate, Virginia dead from an apparent gunshot wound.
Major Jonathan Hankins tells WOAY that the case remains under investigation by the Tazewell County Sheriff’s Office. The Sheriff’s Office is working closely with the Tazewell County Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office in the investigation.
At this time, deputies say there is no known threat to the public.
