Deadline for Low Income Energy Assistance Program applications on January 30

West Virginia (WOAY) The West Virginia Department of Human Services (DOHS) announces the deadline for the Low-Income Energy Assistance Program (LIEAP) is approaching quickly.

Residents who received applications must submit them by Friday, January 30.

The department began automatic mass mailings of applications on January 5 to ensure residents who would benefit most from the assistance have access to apply before the deadline.

Households that receive an application in the mail have until January 30 or until funding is gone to submit their application.

Regular LIEAP applications will be available to the general public starting on February 2.

The federally funded program assists eligible state residents in paying home heating bills.

Eligibility for benefits is based on income, household size, and whether the household is responsible for paying its heating bill.

Residents may also receive help with cooling costs in some situations.

For an application, you can visit your local DOHS office or community action agency.

Residents can also access an online application at wvpath.wv.org.
