Beckley, WV, (WOAY) It’s almost time for the United Way of Southern West Virginia’s Dancing with the Stars in Beckley!
This Friday night, WOAY’s own Brandy Lawrence will perform alongside dance trainer Chas Turner in a competition against five other local celebrity dance teams. She and all the other dancers have been preparing for months to give the community an amazing show. Tickets are still available, and you can still support your favorite dancers online. United Way of Southern West Virginia Executive Director Trena Dacul says all the funds raised go to community efforts right here in Southern West Virginia.
“This is our 13th season of Dancing with the Stars; it’s our biggest fundraiser of the year. So six local couples will come together after having been trained by a choreographer all season long, and they will put on a performance tomorrow night, hopefully to win the Judges’ Choice Award and the People’s Choice Award, where they’ve been fundraising as well…”
Dacul says that anyone interested still has time to get tickets or give support.
“They can go to our website, unitedwayswvstars.org…there are still a few tickets remaining for the event if they would like to attend on Friday night, and then they can learn more about our impact and where the money goes to support our community.”
