Cunard, WV (WOAY)-The Cunard Access Road is now closed due to unforeseen safety concerns.
Officials say the roadway failed at a construction site, prompting the closure effective Saturday, October 25.
Repairs are underway, with crews hoping to reopen the road by next spring.
The closure starts just beyond the Brooklyn Miner trailhead.
However, the Brooklyn Miner and Kaymoor trails remain open to hikers.
Park officials urge visitors to check back at The New River Gorge National Park and Preserve Facebook page for updates as repair work continues.
