Crew to permanently repair Hinton sinkhole

The West Virginia Division of Highways has awarded a contract to a company to fix the sinkhole near the Hinton Police Department.

Orders Construction Company will get $4,249,238 to complete the repairs. They will install a new, permanent drainage system and remove the temporary repairs.

The road first collapsed in June of 2022 when the old drainage system collapsed. The Department of Highways put in a temporary drain system, only to wash out in November of that year.

And in January, crews again temporarily fixed the, filling it with rock and dirt.

Other contracts awarded by the DOH include a project to pave US 19 from the Fayette County line to Mt. Lookout, pave and work on traffic signals on Harper Road in Raleigh County, and other road paving projects in Summers and Monroe Counties.
