Good morning, folks! Today, we’re looking at cooler conditions with highs reaching the mid to upper 70s—right around normal for this time of year. Along with the cooler temperatures, winds will be picking up, which raises concerns about fire weather. Peak wind gusts end up around 25 mph out of the southeast today. Any sparks could spread quickly, so please be cautious and avoid unnecessary outdoor fires. We’ll have another breezy day with heightened fire dangers again tomorrow.
As we move through the week, temperatures will remain steady in the mid-70s, with a slight dip expected tomorrow. While there was hope for some rain from Hurricane Francine, it looks like an area of high pressure will keep most of the region dry. The southern coalfields may see a small chance of rain tomorrow, but that’s looking unlikely.
Looking ahead, the next chance for rain may come from a tropical system off the Atlantic, possibly bringing some much-needed moisture by the middle of next week. Let’s cross our fingers for that!
Stay safe out there, and be mindful of the increased fire risk with these windy conditions.
