WOAY-TV (Oak Hill, WV): After a rainy Easter Sunday, conditions have cooled down significantly. Western Fayette, McDowell, Western Nicholas, Southeastern Pocahontas, Western Raleigh, and Wyoming counties are under a Frost Advisory until 10 AM due to the cold temperatures. The rest of the counties will also be cold, but these areas were given the advisory since they have already started their growing seasons.
Temperatures will start to climb a bit this afternoon, reaching close to 60 degrees. The weather will also be fantastic, as mostly sunny skies will persist through today and beyond. You’ll want some layers, but it is a great day to get out if you don’t mind the cold. We’ll be much calmer this week, but there are some things to talk about this week. Meteorologist Christian Boteler has the details:
Tomorrow and Wednesday will be on the cooler side. A cold front will pass by, but will be dry as it does. The wetter activity behind the first cold front will not reach our region, leaving us without any rain tomorrow. Temperatures will stay around 50 degrees tomorrow afternoon before slowly increasing over the next few days.
High pressure moves in on Wednesday, continuing the dry streak in our region. At this point, temperatures will start to increase. This will lead to more elevated fire risks through the week as humidity remains low and winds will be breezy through the week. Please remember to mind the seasonal burn ban and dispose of cigarette butts and other flammable objects properly. By Friday, temperatures will be back in the 70s with no meaningful precipitation falling for the entire work week.
This weekend may start with a couple of showers Saturday morning, but some models have these dissipating before reaching our region. We are keeping an eye on things, but we are trending towards a decent line of showers early before returning to dry conditions for the rest of the weekend. Temperatures will reach close to or slightly above 80 degrees by Sunday, returning us to the warmer pattern we started with this month. Here’s your 7-Day Forecast:
