Fayette County, WV (WOAY) – Construction on a brand new riverside park in Smithers is set to begin next month.
The park is named after the old Oakland Avenue schoolhouse that was built in 1898.
Plans for the park include a view of the river, a dock for fishing and watercraft, and a handicap accessible playground.
The groundbreaking is set for 6 p.m. on May 4. A reception will be held at the Gateway Center at 6:30.
