Concord University to host an open poetry reading in memory of former English professor

Athens, WV (WOAY) – Concord University will host an open poetry reading on October 9 in memory of a beloved former English professor.

Dr. Delilah O’Haynes taught creative writing at Concord for 30 years and played a critical role in creating the Reflexes art magazine.

Additionally, O’Haynes co-founded the university’s sexual assault response team and the women and gender studies group.

Library associate John Bolt, who was also one of O’Haynes’ students, helped plan the event in her honor.

The event is open to everyone, and attendees are welcome to read a poem by O’Haynes, a piece inspired by her, or one she would have enjoyed.

The event will be held in Marsh Library’s President’s Room at 5:00 p.m.
