Concord University Research Festival celebrates students’ scholarly accomplishments

ATHENS, WV (WOAY) – Concord University’s 16th annual Research Festival kicked off with students from all disciplines sharing the research they’ve been working on.

From biology to psychology to English and more, the McNair Scholars and Psychology Programs event provided students an opportunity to gain confidence when giving a presentation.

“The experience of doing research is valuable in and of itself,” said Psychology Professor/McNair Scholars Program Director Dr. Rodney Klein.

According to the professor, it’s beneficial for those who have graduate professional plans.

“It increases their ability to do library research, examining background research, what people have done, and what areas still need questions answered,” Klein said, adding that it strengthens critical thinking skills. “Also, some creativity, new novel ways of looking at questions in different ways.”
