Athens, WV (WOAY) Concord University Athletics is teaming up with a Mercer County nonprofit to raise awareness for local cancer fighters and their caregivers.
Throughout October, Concord Mountain Lions football players will wear pink ribbons on their helmets as part of a partnership with Ridin’ 4 a Cure.
The partnership begins this Saturday, October 3, when Concord hosts Frostburg State at Callaghan Stadium.
Cancer survivors from across the region are invited to walk the team onto the field before the 1:00 p.m. kickoff.
Survivors who want to participate should email crystal.cook@ridin4acure.org by Friday, October 2.
Participants should arrive at the main gate by 12:45 p.m.
Ridin’ 4 a Cure helps local cancer patients with care, transportation, and other resources, while also supporting preventive screenings and early detection.
The game will also be streamed on the MEC digital network.
