Concord University Groundhog Day Breakfast delayed to 10:00am due to winter weather

Athens, WV (WOAY) As winter weather continues to impact our region, Concord University is adjusting plans for one of its longtime traditions.

Out of an abundance of caution, the university is delaying the start of this morning’s Groundhog Day Breakfast until 10 a.m.

The event will now take place in the 1872 Room inside the Jean and Jerry L. Beasley Student Center, where brunch will be served.

This year’s celebration will feature 1996 Concord University alum Delnora Reed Acuff as the Grand Groundhog Watcher.

The award-winning singer and songwriter, now based near Nashville, will deliver remarks and a brief performance. 

Organizers are hopeful that Concord Charlie will deliver an optimistic forecast for the weeks ahead.
