RALEIGH COUNTY, WV (WOAY) – A group of concerned citizens fighting for democracy protested in Beckley against Trump’s policies and all that’s been stripped since he took office.
Project 2025 is dubbed “A historic movement, brought together by more than 100 respected conservative organizations to take down the deep state and return the government to the people.”
The concerned citizens are rejecting racism, fascism and defending equality.
“We have a duty as American citizens when we see our nation deeply in trouble to speak out and say something,” said Protest Organizer Kris Kincaid. “There’s no point in mincing words; we’re watching a coup in our federal government.”
The group was part of the bigger February 5th movement throughout the United States — #buildaresistance, and #50501 (50 protests/50 states/one day).
According to Kincaid, the executive orders coming out of Washington affect all Americans. She says the fact that Elon Musk, appointed to a position of power that doesn’t exist because Congress hasn’t ratified it is currently taking over our federal buildings.
“He has access to every single American’s social security numbers, their birthdates, their addresses, their tax information,” the protest organizer said.
We are all human…
“This is unprecedented,” John Baldwin said. “Every one of us deserves equal rights — to pursue happiness and our dreams; it’s crazy.”
Kincaid says we are electing officials to the highest positions in our government who have proudly shared racist and misogynistic tweets.
“That will forever be part of our American history,” said the protest organizer. “So I think it’s really important as American citizens to use the rights we have left before they get taken away.”
This group says Trump is destroying our constitution and walking on it.
“They’re pushing limits left and right,” Baldwin said. “This needs to stop.”
